HSSE

Health

It is our pledge that the health of our employees, contractors and the public is of primary importance. Consistent with this, we are committed to:

  • Promoting health objectives and responsibilities as an integral part of the duties of management;
  • Complying with applicable laws and regulations and, where adequate laws do not exist, adopting and applying standards that reflect Company’s commitment to health;
  • Involving employees and contractors in the implementation of Company’s health management systems;
  • Evaluating health risks pertaining to the Company’s operations that have the potential to affect employees or contractors or the public;
  • Implementing appropriate programs to minimize as practicable these health risks;
  • Ensuring that all operations and work activities are planned to minimize as practicable, health risk;
  • Establishing and ensuring that health management systems, which are designed to protect both employees and contractors, are not only followed, but promote working practices consistent with the health risks and exposures identified and efficient operating conditions;
  • Selecting and engaging contractors whose arrangements and provisions for health are acceptable to the Company;
  • Providing competent resources to advise on relevant aspects of health;
  • Evaluating at the time of employment and afterwards as appropriate, the medical fitness of employees to carry out their work;
  • Communicating openly with the local government and community on health issues;
  • Providing training and instruction to personnel to enable them to perform their work consistent with methods that minimize health exposure;
  • Undertaking reviews as appropriate of the progress and effectiveness of activities in compliance with the above.

Safety 

It is our commitment that the safety of our employees, contractors and the public is of primary importance. Consistent with this, we are committed to:

  • Promoting safety objectives and responsibilities as an integral part of the duties of management, and affording the implementation of such measures the highest priority;
  • Complying with applicable laws and regulations and, where adequate laws do not exist, adopting and applying standards that reflect Company’s commitment to safety;
  • Evaluating hazards and risks pertaining to Company’s operations that have the potential to affect the safety of employees or contractors or the public;
  • Implementing appropriate control measures to minimize as practicable these risks;
  • Establishing and ensuring that safety management systems, which are designed to protect both employees and contractors, are not only followed, but promote safe working practices consistent with the safety risks and hazards identified, and efficient operating conditions;
  • Selecting and engaging contractors whose arrangements and provisions for safety are acceptable to the Company and whose commitment to safe working can be clearly and continuously demonstrated;
  • Providing competent resources to advise on relevant aspects of safety;
  • Communicating openly with the local governments and communities on health and safety issues;
  • Providing training and instruction to personnel to enable them to attain the knowledge and skill levels necessary to perform their work consistent with the controls identified to manage risk;
  • Maintaining appropriate emergency response plans.

Sustainability

We have voluntarily pledged to implement the generally accepted Corporate Social Responsibility standards in all its assets to facilitate maintaining a solid shield that will protect our facilities, working force, surrounding environment and the local society in the countries where we operate. And as part of our sustainability focused business, we:

  • Proactively engage in supporting and promoting environmental and societal issues.
  • Provide for a healthier, more productive work force.
  • Measure and report our performances in environment and social responsibility.

Environment

It is our pledge that we will conduct our activities in an environmentally responsible way, balancing the environmental and economic needs of the community. All activities are planned and managed to ensure minimum environmental impact and sensitivity to the culture and requirements of the people they may affect. Consistent with this, we are committed to:

  • Promoting environmental objectives and responsibilities as an integral part of the duties of management;
  • Conducting Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study prior any major project, i.e. drilling, installation of new facilities;
  • Complying with all applicable environmental laws and regulations and, where adequate laws do not exist, adopting and applying standards that reflect the Company’s commitment to the environment;
  • Evaluating hazards and risks pertaining to the Company’s operations that have the potential to affect the environment;
  • Implementing appropriate control measures to minimize as practicable these risks;
  • Establishing and ensuring that environment management systems, which are designed to protect the environment, are not only followed, but promote environmentally sound working practices consistent with the environmental risks and hazards identified and efficient operating conditions;
  • Selecting and engaging contractors whose environmental policies are acceptable to the Company and whose commitment to this can be clearly demonstrated;
  • Communicating openly and positively with interested parties on environmental matters;
  • Fostering a culture of concerned, responsible attitudes to environmental issues in its employees and contractors;
  • Inviting discussion of the environmental and social concerns of individuals, communities and organizations directly affected by operations in which the Company is involved;
  • Rehabilitating as appropriate areas disturbed by exploration or production activities;
  • Providing appropriate environmental training to staff and contractors, including ways to understand and address public concerns;
  • Maintaining appropriate emergency response plans;
  • Minimizing the generation of wastes and their environmental effects;
  • Conducting operations in an energy efficient manner; and.
  • Undertaking reviews as appropriate of the progress and effectiveness of activities in compliance with the above.
